PQtap supplements the wide range of professional medical equipment for monitoring the state of health of the urinary tract. It can provide continuous long-term monitoring to alert patients or medics of trends that indicate that further investigation is warranted or that treatment has been effective.
Part of the aspiration for this technique is to provide early warning of deterioration of the subject’s health, so that early treatment can be sought. That requires the subject to be persistent in providing readings for most of their bathroom visits, for the app to analyse and avoids maintaining a paper-based diary. The software is entirely self-contained and all data is held on the device, however, it can easily be exported by the user to a clinician if required.
PQtap can serve as a useful adjunct to the isolated hospital test of urine flow for medical patients, and also has the potential for mass self-monitoring and screening of precursors to urinary tract diseases.
